2003-Feb-24: Beatles Anthology DVD Update
Audio Week reports that EMI will release the Beatles Anthology as a 5-DVD set on March 31. The original 10-hour documentary, which aired on ABC in 1995 will appear on the first 4 DVDs. The series has received upgraded video and new audio mastering that includes 5.1-surround sound and a new stereo PCM soundtrack. The 5th DVD will contain all new material including footage of the never before seen McCartney-Starr-Harrison jam session

I just found this information on the net about the bonus DVD that will come with the Anthology set :

ANTHOLOGY DVD PREVIEW

„CONTAINS PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED MUSIC“ THE DVD RELEASE CONTAINS ALL 8 ORIGINAL VIDEO PROGRAMS ON 4 DVD’S.

SEGMENT 2:
THREETLES JAMMING:
„BLUE MOON OF KENTUCKY“(Paul and George singing- more complete than the circulated version) „THINKING OF LINKING“ (Paul and George singing), „RAUNCHY“ (instrumental – the original version)

SEGMENT 3:
GEORGE MARTIN IN THE CONTROL ROOM: He plays more of a complete „A DAY IN THE LIFE“ (take 1) and talks.

SEGMENT 4:
THE THREETLES AT ABBEY ROAD STUDIOS MAY 1995:
Around 15 minutes they are listening old tapes. FEATURING: Take 1 OF „GOLDEN SLUMBERS / CARRY THAT WEIGHT“ The Threetles plus George Martin are listening to the tapes for the first time since they were recorded, and you can see the emotion on their faces. There is a small discussion about who’s playing what: George says, „It sounds like only you (Paul) and Ringo are on it?“ Then Paul says, „I think I’m on the piano. And then who is on the bass?“ (they start to laugh!!) At the end nobody knows who is on what instruments.

Then they move on hearing the TAKE 1 OF Tomorrow Never Knows. George and Paul are over the control room, mixing, isolating sounds, etc. And then the Official version from Maters tapes.(JUST GREAT!!!!!) Plus NEVER BEFORE SEEN THREETLES interview Inside of Abbey Road Studio (for the size Maybe Studio 2)

SEGMENT 5:
NEVER BEFORE SEEN FOOTAGE OF THE THREETLES RECORDING FREE AS A BIRD AND REAL LOVE

SEGMENT 6:
THE ANTHOLOGY PRODUCTION STAFF (interviews with George Martin, Neil Aspinall, Derek Taylor, and people behind the editing)

SEGMENT 7:
THE MAKING OF „FREE AS A BIRD“ VIDEO The director explains how the video was make. Including some behind the scenes footage, and a lot of great stories
HIGHLIGHTS: Why an elephant and a sitar on the video? The elephant was Ringo’s request, and the sitar was George’s. Also George wanted to be the man who’s playing the ukulele at the end of the video, but the director vetoed it, because he said, „If you’re on it , the other two should be in there too!“

SEGMENT 8:
REAL LOVE VIDEO (version 2)

MORE:
Footage of a reunion performance by Beatles Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison is to be seen by the public for the first time. The session, filmed in 1994, is the only time the three played together following the band’s split in 1970. The rare hour-long footage was shot at Harrison’s Friar Park studios, June 23 1994 at his mansion in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. Paul and George were on acoustic guitars and ukuleles and Ringo was on drums.
It includes renditions of „Love Me Do,“ „Roll Over Beethoven“ and „I Saw Her Standing There.“
It is due to be released at the end of March, and is expected be one of the biggest-selling DVDs ever. The trio got together 14 years after the death of John Lennon to record a string of rock and roll classics.
The songs, which the band used to play in their early days, include „Blue Moon Of Kentucky,“ „Ain’t She Sweet“ and „Thinking of Linking.“
The session was filmed for possible inclusion in the 1996 „Beatles Anthology“ video, but in the end only a minute-long segment was shown on ABC’s „Good Morning America“ in the US.
