Wie machen die das nur!? Die Quellen scheinen nie zu versiegen.
The Stone Roses aus Manchester habe ich wohl nur knapp verpasst, denn ihre Große Stunde schlug als ich 12 war. Ich bekam nur noch den 1994er-Nachklapp („Second Coming“) mit. Ja, „Love Spreads“ war cool, aber danach war der Ofen aus. Sogar Liam Gallagher maulte im „Zillo“-Magazin (!), wenn ich mich richtig erinnere – oder lästerte er über Suede!? What difference does it make to OUR KID?
Egal. Schön, dass es mit mir und den Roses dann doch noch klappte. Schlappe 15 Jahre später, als das selbstbetitelte Debüt-Album von 1989 zum 20-jährigen Jubiläum neuaufgelegt wurde. Samt einer Singles-Box, die fünf 7″ers enthielt.
Die beste 45 daraus war, ist und wird für immer „She Bangs The Drums“ bleiben. Und immer muss ich schmunzeln, wenn Ian Brown „Kiss me where the sun don’t shine“ singt. Diese verschmitzte Arroganz, John Squires berauschender psychedelischer Jangle, der Beat-Beat-Beat-Rave – wer solche Musik hört, dem kann die Welt nichts anhaben!
