FriedrichApropos Soft Cell: Ich kann die Quelle nicht finden, aber Alan Vega / Martin Rev waren meines Wissens nicht gerade angetan vom kommerziellen Erfolg Soft Cells. Sie warfen Marc Almond und Dave Ball vor, sie hätten Suicides Konzept geklaut und würden damit groß absahnen. Vermutlich haben Soft Cell Suicide gesehen und gehört, als diese 1978 in Großbritannien auf Tour waren und dabei auch in Leeds auftraten. Almond und Ball haben sich auch offen zum Einfluss durch Suicide bekannt und sogar deren GHOST RIDER live gespielt.
Ich hätte da eine Quelle, die deinen Beitrag bestätigt. Auf Seite 185 in Marc Almonds Autobiografie finden sich folgende Sätze:
I spotted Alan Vega, the lead singer of Suicide, making his way towards me. I didn’t know if he was going to be friendly or hostile. Alan is a really great guy, and I was always a fan, but he seemed to have a bee in his bonnet about Soft Cell, even though we always acknowledged Suicide as being the first synth duo. ‚Hey, those Soft Cell guys ripped us off and stole our ideas‘, he said in the press. At first I had felt angry over what he said, and once stormed past him in the Gramercy Park, ignoring him. But now we had reconciled our differences.
