Das Merrill-Album ist auch mein liebstes, sie ist ja einer meiner allerliebsten Sängerinnen … aber letztlich sind die Wilkins-Arrangements für Vaughan wohl etwas besser oder? Und dass Sassy damals eine so feine Rhythmusgruppe hatte – Jimmy Jones, Joe Benjamin und Roy Haynes – und diese an der Session mitwirkt, schadet auch nicht. Und Quinichette ist auch klasse … egal, Merrill wird mir immer näher bleiben und ihr Debut-Album ist eins ihrer schönsten …
