„Free for All“ kommt bei mir auf jeden Fall! Da habe ich immer noch die alte CD aus den 80ern. Kennengelernt habe ich die Scheibe aber auf Vinyl – eine von zwei alten Blue Notes in der Sammlung meines Vaters (die andere ist eine der Bechet 12″s). Bis heute wohl mein liebstes Blakey-Album, so explosiv, so nahe beim „freien“ Groove der Sechziger waren die Messengers wohl sonst nie.
Doch jetzt eine für mich neue von Cannonball, auch aus einem der beiden CD Japan-Pakete:
