Live hab ich ihn nie gehört … Du warst am Vision Fest?
Ich denke ich höre die Box heute gleich komplett durch … die beiden Alben mit Carroll gefallen mir sehr gut – sein „Shadows and Reflections“ auf Soul Note ist auch ein Kandidat für die Top-200 post 1970, kenne ich noch nicht lange, phantastische Band mit Hemphill, Anthony Davis, Holland und akLaff.
Auf „Clevont Fitzhubert“ gibt’s viele Swing-Beats und sogar eine Nummer mit Marching-Band-Beat, die Beats ziehen sich recht starr durch – die Bass-Drum sorgt für das Fundament und akLaff dafür, dass das nie eintönig wird … und in „Tap Dancer“ spielt er streckenweise wirklich fast so, dass man sich Astaire vorstellt.
