Das ist für mich wohl die erste Inselplatte aus dem Hause Bley … schon der träge Groove des Openers „Ida Lupino“ ist unglaublich toll, Steve Swallow gefällt mir in dieser Zeit (1965) am Kontrabass überhaupt ausgezeichnet, Barry Altschul sitzt am Schlagzeug und weiss ganz genau mit dieser Musik umzugehen, die – neben je einem Stück von Ornette Coleman, Annette Peacock und Paul Bley – von Carla Bley stammt. So wirklich Hi-Fi ist das wie bei ESP üblich nicht, aber der Sound ist heiss, die Instrumente nah aufgenommen, gefällt mir auch heute wieder sehr, sehr gut.
