1969 aufgenommen, erneut mit Daniel Humair; produziert hat übrigens all die Barclay-Alben ihr Ehemann Raoul Saint-Yves – nachdem sie Angebote, mit Lockjaw und Griffin abgelehnt hatte (damn!) ging sie von der Manhattan School of Music nach Paris, um bei Nadia Boulanger zu studieren – und da blieb sie dann ab 1967 auch.
Seduced by what he’d heard, Bill Basie [schon wieder!] invited them [das Trio mit Billy Elliott und Joe Thomas] to play at his own club, Count Basie’s, which was up in Harlem on the corner of 7th Avenue and 132rd Street: „When I was playing there, I had a terror of seeing Griffin come in. He played so fast, with so much passion, that my legs and feet turned to jelly after only one or two sets with him! I prayed for the moment when he’d yell, ‚I got it!‘, and then take a coda lasting ten minutes or more…“

Auf dem zweiten Barclay-Album ist das Programm äusserst bunt, als Opener gibt’s „Aquarius“, dann folgen etwa „People“, „On the Street Where You Live“, „Climb Every Mountain“ und – alle Songs stammen auf Filmen – ein einziger Jazz-Klassiker, „It’s All Right with Me“. Eine sehr produzierte Geschichte, viel weniger intensiv und explorativ als das Debut (die frühen Alben waren ja eigentlich sowieso Bill Elliott-Alben … das erste, „Hey! Hey! Hey!“, kenne ich leider bisher nicht, ein paar Singles scheint es auch noch zu geben, von denen ich nicht weiss, ob sie auf das Album fanden oder nicht), dennoch macht die Musik grossen Spass und es gelingt Humair auch diesmal, viel rhythmische Würze einzustreuen.
