ferryDas ist doch das Album, was über zehn Jahre unveröffentlicht bei Blue Note in den Archiven lag?
Wirklich unbegreiflich, dass ein so gutes Album nicht sofort veröffentlicht wurde!
Könnte einer der Fälle sein, in denen man schlicht zuviel Material hatte? 1960 spielte Hubbard „Open Sesame“ und „Goin‘ Up“ ein, 1961 folgten „Hub Cap“, und „Ready for Freddie“, 1962 dann „Hub-Tones“ und „Here to Stay“ sowie das erste von zwei Impulse-Alben, „The Artistry of Freddie Hubbard“, 1963 folgte das zweite Impulse-Album und Blue Note konnte endlich eins der überfälligen Alben rausbringen (mehr als eins, maximal zwei pro Jahr war sicher nicht sinnvoll), 1964 gab’s „Breaking Point“, 1965 Material für zwei Live-Alben aus dem Club La Marchal („The Night of the Cookers“) und die Sessions für „Blue Spirits“ – und an diesem Zeitpunkt mag „Here to Stay“ schon leicht antiquiert gewirkt haben, im Vergleich mit den aktuelleren Sachen. 1966 war Hubbard dann bei Atlantic und beim Boogaloo … ich kann mir jedenfalls gut vorstellen, dass „Here to Stay“ schlicht zu wenig davon hatte, was man „selling points“ nennt … das scheint uns aus heutiger Sicht natürlich absurd, denn gut ist es ja wirklich!
