Duphly, Armand-Louis Couperin, Royer, Balbastre – they are all composers we have heard plenty of times on disc before without their seeming much of a threat to Rameau’s pre-eminence, but here they are gathered together and delivered with such fine musicality that each seems like a new and exciting discovery.
