Brubeck find ich einen ziemlich unpassenden Vergleich stilistisch.
Basie konnte vielleicht technisch gesehen nicht besonders viel, aber er hatte das Gefühl und die Time, das reicht mir alleweil. Du kennst ja bestimmt seine Aufnahmen mit Oscar Peterson – Basie kommt da keineswegs flach heraus, auch wenn er pianistisch wohl weit unterlegen ist.
Sein Pianospiel ist irgendwie wie seine Band – swingend, bluesig, swingend, sparsam, swingend, erfrischend, swingend, überraschend, swingend… so in der Art
