@Josh: Willkommen zuhause! Schöne Liste. Das „Blumen und Narzissen“-Album muss ich mir noch besorgen. Keine Fischmob?
otisDie Optik bleibt kokett.
Darüber werden wir uns wohl nicht einig werden. Ich möchte aber noch zur Abrundung den wunderbaren Garry Mulholland („Fear of Music“) zitieren. Er schreibt über „Trans-Europe Express“ (ich kürze etwas):
„The songs on this record define complexity made simple, and the less-is-more-aesthetic. But they also ache. Maybe it’s the loneliness within the sound (…) Maybe it’s just those graceful minor-key synth-riffs, like androids sighing. But what we can be sure of is that the title-track invented electro-funk, and that the album, as a whole, is what any synthetic record has to live up. It deconstructs disco, but with a love that defies intellectual exercise and give disco back its soul.“
Und zur Optik:
„And finally, there’s the sleeve imagery, four men of wealth and taste, immaculate and chaming and charmed, proudly but quietly basking in the afterglow of designing the future.“
Mulholland nennt Kraftwerk übrigens „The Techno Ramones“ und hört bei ihnen wie bei den Ramones einen großen Einfluss der Beach Boys. Das ist für mich ein neuer Aspekt, aber was er schreibt, hat insgesamt eine solide Faktenbasis. Ich bin jetzt zumindest angeregt, endlich mal Wolfgang Flürs Buch zu lesen („Ich war ein Roboter“).
