Carrot FlowerVon ganz besondrer Güte natürlich auch die Texte von Neutral Milk Hotel/Jeff Mangum. Darin finden sich treffende und verstörende Bilder für seelische Zustände (junger Menschen), aber auch zuweilen ein garstiger Humor, der Distanz schafft. Insofern sind diese Texte schön unrund, sie lassen sich nicht vollständig erschließen, geben aber den Gedanken viel Nahrung.
Nur scheinbar sehr „faktisch“ ist z.B. die zweite/dritte Strophe, in der ein tätlicher Angriff der Mutter auf den Vater inkl. Durchdringen mit Gabel parallel zu einer viel schöneren durchdringenden Tätlichkeit gesetzt ist, der zwei Jugendliche nachgehen.
