In 1996, Soundgarden toured the West Coast of America, recording the shows with a view to releasing a live album. However, the band split up after the tour and all the live tapes sat in a recording studio in Seattle for the next 15 years.
They have now dusted off those live tapes and have delivered Soundgarden’s first ever live album, and one that captures the band at the height of their recording and touring career. It includes favorites like SPOONMAN, RUSTY CAGE, BURDEN MY HEART and BLACK HOLE SUN (performed by Chris Cornell solo), as well what insiders are calling the definitive live performance of JESUS CHRIST POSE. As a bonus, the disc includes two brilliantly inspired covers: HELTER SKELTER and the proto-punk classic, SEARCH & DESTROY.
The collection captures the rawness, spontaneity and magic that happens at live gigs between Soundgarden and their audiences – catching the now-legendary rock titans at the top of their game.
Following the band’s celebrated 2010 reunion, Soundgarden re-staked their well deserved place, earning a Grammy Nomination for previously unreleased track BLACK RAIN and for Best Hard Rock Performance, and topped critics lists with their 2010 release, TELEPHANTASM.
