The album reached No. 34 on the British albums chart on its release in January 1979, remaining there for nine weeks and contributing a clutch of classic songs to the Nazareth repertoire. Of one of the album’s undoubted highlights, Agnew recalls: “‘May The Sunshine’ was a big hit for us: we liked that song, it was a collaboration between all of us. ‘No Mean City’ itself also became one of our best-known songs. As for the man on the front cover – ‘Friendly Fred,’ as he’s known to the fans – well, you just stick him on a T-shirt and it sells right away. I think it’s the most well-known sleeve we ever did.”
