The Early Singles and EP’s

CD 3
The Early Cassettes.

A selection from the Triffids’ first, second, third and fourth cassettes. This selection exposes the listener to the (admittedly crude) bonfire of creativity that was The Triffids of 1978 and 1979. The original core of David McComb, Alsy Madonald and Phil Kakulas could barely play their instruments but the songs they recorded on a Revox A77 display a powerfully intelligent brand of songwriting in its infancy. Each cassette release shows a quantum leap in sophistication such that tape 4 contains a song, Little Voices, that became the basis one of The Triffids better known songs, My Baby Thinks She’s A Train

CD 4
The Early Cassettes. The Triffids’ fifth and sixth cassettes

CD 5
Grandson of Dungeon Tape. Dungeon Tape and Son of Dungeon Tape – A Selection

CD 6
Live to air on 3PBS from the Regal Room at The Prince Of Wales Hotel, St Kilda – 16/4/84
The Triffids were still six months and 23 shows away from leaving their Australian shores…

This show presents a very good band that was striving to become a great band. You can tell that Dave was taking the chance to be recorded for free very seriously as he makes the decision to play songs they don’t normally play and some new ones that are still being thrashed out on stage and in the rehearsal room. You can almost smell the ambition. Most bands would be quite happy to sound as good as this but The Triffids weren’t most bands. By the time they got to London quite a few of the songs played on 3PBS had been ditched and some had been ramped up, re-written and re-arranged to become truly great songs.

CD 7
Live At the London School Of Economics – 13/10/84

CD 8
Live At Melbourne University – 27/03/88

This show presents The Triffids in an epic, conversational show. From Dave’s opening words you can tell that the band and audience are going to have a ball tonight. Before the tensions and restlessness of The Black Swan era had set in this is the sound of a band playing so well they can sit back, relax and admire their own nifty footwork while sharing a joke at the same time.

CD 9
Jack Brabham 2010 Volume 1 Live recordings, unreleased tracks and historical snippet 1977 to 1989

CD 10
Jack Brabham 2010 Volume 2 Demos, Unheard Songs and Historical Snippets 1977 to 1988
