Gesamtwertung: irgendwo zwischen ***1/2 und ****

Eine Song-Einzelbewertung macht hier natürlich nur bedingt Sinn. „The Hazards of Love“ ist eher eine 17-teiliges zusammenhängendes Konzeptalbum, eine Rockoper, eine Art Märchen-Musical.

Obwohl mir derartige Platten mit intellektuellem, konzeptionellem Überbau normalerweise eher Unbehagen bereiten, gefällt mir „The Hazards of Love“ trotz teilweise nicht zu überhörender Proganleihen und Breitbandsound (und trotz der Story, die mich nun auch nicht unbedingt packt) irgendwie, wahrscheinlich aufgrund der sprudelnden Ideenvielfalt und äußerst vielfältigen Instrumentierung.

Die Intonation und Stimmfärbung von Becky Stark von Lavender Diamond (in der Rolle der Margaret) finde ich allerdings eher anstrengend.
