Neues von den Art-Rockern aus Oslo.

Nach den, wie ich finde, sehr gelungenen letzten Outputs Night (2007) und Tick Tock (2009) bin ich auf neues Material natürlich gespannt. Bei der letzten Tour gab es dazu ja schon einen kleinen, viel versprechenden, Vorgeschmack.

Greetings and salutations darlings.

So here we are again with another album finished. Number six so far and definately the best one yet. After tick tock we sat down and asked ourselves what excited us and after months of pondering this question we had a grand and brilliant idea.

How would a mass for Atropos sound?

In greek mythology, Atropos was one of the three Moirae, goddesses of fate and destiny. Atropos was the oldest of the Three Fates, and was known as the „inflexible“ or „inevitable“. It was Atropos who chose the mechanism of death and ended the life of each mortal by cutting their thread with her „abhorred shears“.

To find out what a mass would be like, we envisaged a story of a man who cuts all ties to the world and moves to a lighthouse to write a mass for Atropos and to taste true solitude. The title is also a wordplay on misanthropy which I suppose plays a part in the concept as well.

The album tells the story of what happens inside his head and includes three of his attempts to write the mass as well as the final Missa Atropos.

It is intended to be another album in the series of films without pictures that we started back in 2007 with „Night“. In other words a concept album intended to give the listener a chance to take some time off from the world.

Have we done it again? You decide. Hope you like it as much as we do.

We expect widespread distribution from the middle of september.
Official release date will be 26th November 2010.

We are working around the clock now to make the album available for one night only at the „night of the prog festival“ 3rd September.

gerade läuft der 2. durchgang….. auf jeden fall ist den norwegern da wieder ein sehr schönes album gelungen!

Nach dem unglaublichen Vorgänger Tick Tock waren die Erwartungen ja extrem hoch. Das neue Album brauchte wohl auch deshalb einige Durchgänge, bis es so richtig zünden konnte. Missa Atropos wird jedenfalls mit jedem Durchgang besser. Es ist mir immer noch ein Rätsel, wie Gazpacho es schaffen, jedes Jahr ein neues Album von solcher Qualität rauszuhauen!

Ja, es kommt nicht so, wie soll ichs ausdrücken, „zwingend“ daher wie „Tick Tock“. Ein feines, aber vergleichsweise unaufdringliches Album. Das sich aber lohnt zu entdecken.
