ehemalige bandmitglieder von jeff (parker kindred & michael tighe) spielen jetzt bei the a.m. (wurde das schon erwähnt?)…. schönes debüt-album. ganz anders als jeff aber.
jeff hat wohl sehr gespaltene gefühle für seinen vater gehabt… klar irgendwie. in erster linie war er wohl verzweifelt.
aus dem sketches for my swetheart the drunk booklet:
„they will accuse me of stealing from my father. they already send in baited judgement, waiting for my first move, waiting to dump their loads of garbage upon me. i face them like the man he never was and say `the only thing i ever stole from my FATHER was a fleeting GLIMPSE!!`THE ONLY“
„my grandfather had a beautiful voice. irish tenor. beautiful. too much of a military hardass to deal with his own and his son´s talents. i wish it were otherwise. i love you, you poor bastards… with a father like this man, it´s no wonder that tim buckley was afraid to come back to me. so afraid to be my father. because his only paradigm for fatherhood was a deranged lunatic with a steel plate in his head… i know that he must have been scared shitless to think he might possibly become like his father. scared shitless of treating me the way his father treated him and his family. can you imagine the heartbreak? the useless, shitty torture day in, day out?“ (jeff buckley, journal entry, august 9, 1995)
„my mom and my dad both had their shit beat out of them by their fathers, throughout their teens. escape, escape, escape, escape, escape sweet timothy and mary“ (gleicher tag)
„mary guibert and tim buckly got married in `66… i was expected. he was sent to N.Y. for some gigs some time later and decided not to be a husband anymore. they were both eighteen or so, what the hey…“ (1990, unsent letter) alles aus „dream brother – the lives and music of jeff and tim buckley“ by david browne
