14. Calexico – All systems red
Album: Garden ruin (2006)
Joey Burns und John Convertino, die beiden Hauptakteure der Band, haben mit dem Album „Garden ruin“ ihrem „Tucson-Desert-Rock“ einen neuen Anstrich verliehen und mir gefällt’s, ohne dass ich die Faszination von Werken wie z.B. „Feast of wire“ missen möchte. Es ist mehr ein Bandalbum geworden. Und „All systems red“ als finaler Song ist ein politisches Statement, das nicht gerade vor Hoffnung strotzt („The numbers rise on the death toll and the chimes of freedom flash and fade, only heard from far, far away“) und einen wohl gerade deshalb so gefangen nimmt.
Ich hoffe, ihr hattet den Spaß mit der heutigen „RAW AIR“-Ausgabe, den ich beim Zusammenstellen hatte. Die nächste Sendung geht dann in die Sixties. Gleich anschließend viel Spaß mit Holger’s Sendung.
