Brandneues Album, besonders geeignet für die Zeit von 2.35Uhr-3.18Uhr(in der Früh´ ).
Nicht immer ganz einfach, aber wunderschön.
Dunedin-based, experimental musician, Alastair Galbraith is one of the most admired musicians in the ‘underground’ music scene worldwide. Starting with Flying Nun band The Rips, Galbraith has two decades of projects and recordings under his belt, employing everything from bagpipes to piano wires to achieve his “unerringly emotional” sound.
Now, for the first time since 2000’s ‘Cry,’ Alastair Galbraith delivers an album of song-based material. Orb is 20 beautiful new tracks, all hiss and bones, raw hurt and high wonder, that waft through familiar backwards folk, barely-there ballads, hypnotic lullabies, swelling rolls of delayed guitar and tidal washes of vocals… On “Short Dream For Fire Organ“ Alastair’s home-made gas-powered instrument booms away in a tunnel (pictured on the back cover) while disembodied whisperers come and go with you trapped down there under a bad drug. “Cloth Master” punches you repeatedly whilst screaming in your face, “Something Happened” is full of rock-bottom, alt-country resignation and charm and the mirror-imaged, „Your Lilt“ ends with the listener “waltzing with a skating cello round heaven.” Everyone needs to know what that sounds like..
