09. The Jayhawks – Waiting for the sun

Die nächsten vier Stücke drehen sich um die Band „The Jayhawks“, die sich 1985 in Minnesota um die Urmitglieder Mark Olson, Gary Louris und Marc Perlman gründete, und das musikalische Umfeld dieser Band. Die Jayhawks haben zwischen 1985 und 2003 sieben Alben veröffentlicht. Zunächst widmeten sie sich folk- und rootsorientiertem Alternative Country Rock. Ihr drittes Album „Hollywood Town Hall“ und der Nachfolger „Tomorrow the green grass“ sind Highlights dieses Genres. 1995 verließ dann Mark Olson die Jayhawks und Louris übernahm das Zepter. Die Folk- und Country-Einflüsse schwanden, es wurde rock-orientierter. Mit dem Album „Smile“ (2000) gelang gar ein lupenreines Popalbum. Erst mit ihrem letzten Album „Rainy day music“ (2003) ging es teilweise wieder back to the roots, ohne die Pop-Elemente gänzlich auszusparen..
