NICK DRAKE:
Fruit Tree Boxed set: Information bulletinOver the last 5 years one of the most-asked questions to Bryter Music
concerns the re-issue of the ‚Fruit Tree‘ set and if we would make it
available again, the next biggest question was about the lack of vinyl on
Nick Drake’s albums. We are well aware that ‚Fruit Tree‘ has been available before, to our mind,
in sets that appeared to be of a lesser quality each time. Having deleted it
some 10 years ago, we felt that now was the time to re-issue it in a limited
amount for those who refer to buy all of the albums in one set, in one go,
at a decent price.Though we have added a new book and the DVD of the ‚A Skin Too Few‘ film we
plan to issue these two items in their own right late in 2008, possibly in
expanded form. Therefore, if one is tempted to buy this new enhanced boxed
set just for those two items, one can wait and buy them separately. There is NO NEW MUSIC in the set, neither are the CDs remastered in any way
differently to the individual CDs currently in the shops. Buying them all in
the set should mean that you get all of Nick’s albums at a more attractive
price (depending on the price set by the outlet, which is up to them!)The DVD of ‚A Skin Too Few‘ is NOT the same as the BBC documentary which
remains long dead and buried. Details about the film can be read at:
http://www.nickdrakefilm.com/Ordering Fruit Tree in either format should be simple. Many people have
written, from all over the world, about how to secure a copy. Each country
will have several different versions of the ‚Amazon‘ type mail-order
outlets, and we suggest that you try these as one can easily pre-order a
copy, thereby guaranteeing delivery upon release date.
One can still order from Amazon UK and US by visitingwww.amazon.co.uk
Or
Www.amazon.comBoth of which will ship worldwide, but you may have better versions in your
respective countries. We cannot guarantee that the set will be available in the common ‚high
street‘ sort of outlet because so many of these dislike carrying anything
other than CDs in nice plastic cases. Rough Trade (London) Other Music (New
York) Amoeba (Los Angeles) and Easy Street (Seattle) will be stocking the
set for sure. The second edition of the boxed set included a further album ‚Time Of No
Reply‘ which contained out-takes, alternative versions and the ‚last four
songs‘. That title was replaced by the longer and more comprehensive ‚Made
To Love Magic‘ compilation, which is still readily available. It was decided
not to include that title in the boxed set again as many people may have
only just bought it recently and, to include it again, would have inflated
the price of the set somewhat. The Boxed sets are being manufactured in Germany for the whole world, there
will be no difference between the sets available in different countries.I hope that your questions may all be answered by the above,
Kind regards,
Cally
Bryter Music.
