History:

Everything started with Daniel (Kessler, guitar & background vocals). He used to play with Greg, a drummer he had met in the New York University campus. They played together for a while, the two of them, adding bass and vocals afterwards.
In the meantime Daniel noticed a singular young man during history class, wearing a „beautiful and original pair of Doc Marteens — without the yellow sewing .“ Someday he went to talk to the guy, to ask him where he had bought the shoes, and they ended up talking about music. He was a „retired“ guitar player, but he felt like giving music a second chance. He no longer had a guitar, so Daniel lent him his bass guitar. That was Carlos (D., bass, keyboards & background vocals).

Daniel had met Paul (Banks, guitar & vocals) some time before the other ones, during a summer session in Paris. He played guitar and sang. They lost touch and Daniel eventually stumbled on him in the street. He told him about the band, Paul came to the studio to listen to the songs, and joined. Interpol was set up. That was in 1998.

In April 2000, Greg, the drummer, left the band for „personal and artistic reasons.“ He was replaced by Samuel (Fogarino), whom Daniel had known for several years. He is now playing in a band named „She’s Hit !“

The name „Interpol“ comes from a joke ; a guy used to tease Paul by saying „Paul Paul Interpol.“
