Vor einigen Monaten habe ich die neue Barracudas-CD bei „Not Lame“ gekauft. Dabei ist mir dieser Sampler aufgefallen und ich dachte für ca. 3 Euro eine Doppel-CD, da kann man nichts verkehrt machen. Und so war es auch. Hier eine der Perlen aus diesem Sampler. Über die Band weiß ich gar nichts, daher zitiere ich aus dem Text von „Not Lame“:
You ask, „Huh? Who are they!?“ Good question….we didn`t know, either(they released some local singles and EP`s). Why the pop intelligentsia has missed this one is beyond this pop geek`s fathoms. But problem solved here. The first CD is worth every penny by itself, filled with 25 studio trax, expertly recorded–for the times, of course–but it makes it more perplexing that, despite the clear quality, it never made into more public consumption beyond limited parts of Texas, which is where they come from. The Explosives played from 1979-1982 and I don`t recall anyone every mentioning this band to me(it`s bother me, can you tell?). Criminal the pop passionate few dont` know of The Explosives. We change that right now, okay? If this skinny-tie power pop stuff is yr bag, fill it w/ this. Presently these guys are still playing together and backing legend Roky Erickson so no chops lost here.
