Gesamt: *** – gestern und heute nochmal ausgiebig gehört. Geändert hat sich der Eindruck leider nur minimal. Was einerseits am ziemlich holprigen, klappernden Mix liegt. Und anderseits daran, dass die Melodien nicht prägnant oder packend genug sind. Die Ausnahmen sprechen im Song-TÜV ja eine klare Sprache.
Wirklich faszinierend und verstörend sind die Texte. Man spürt die Ankündigung des Selbstmords (bzw. die Ursachen), wenn er
a) bei „Farewell“ singt: „A dying man in a living room/Whose shadow paces the floor/Who’ll take you out in the open door/This is not my life.“ Oder „And I can deal with some psychic pain/If it’ll slow down my higher brain.“
b) Bei „Lost“: Well I don’t know where I’ll go now/And I don’t really care who follows me there/But I’ll burn every bridge that I cross/And find some beautiful place to get lost.“
c) Bei „Strung“: „I know how I begin/And how I’ll end/Strung out again.“
