Daniel_BelsazarDas war mal common sense? Wo hast Du Dich denn rumgetrieben? …

Immer nur in den besten Häusern.

(…)FIRE OF LOVE was well received on both sides of the Atlantic, but MIAMI (1982), rush-released on Blondie guitarist Chris Stein’s label, Animal, was a disappointing follow-up, although “Devil In The Woods” and “Watermelon Man” were noteworthy inclusions, and the set cemented the band’s alternative status in the US. Kid Congo Powers’ return at this point did little to help The Gun Club’s progress, and the next LP, DEATH PARTY (1983), was patchy, to say the least.(…)

(…)Miami, which gave Pierce the chance to live the dream of singing with Harry, is both jumbled and dispirited. It includes a little folk, country and pop-rock without diluting the strength one whit, not even via harmony vocalizing. Producer and Animal magnate Chris Stein does procure a clearer sound, cleansing Dotson’s slide guitar of its grit, although bringing Pierce’s generally strong Jim Morrison-styled vocals to the front of the mix does focus attention on his disconcerting tendency to hit notes sharp. (The cassette adds tracks from the Death Party EP.)(…)

Common sense ist nicht mein sense, MIAMI und FIRE OF LOVE gehören in jeden vernünftigen Haushalt. Finde auch die mother juno nicht übel, hat aber nicht mehr diesen swamp-roots-Bezug.
