„We signed the deal last month and we are very happy with it,“ says Orri Dyrason, Sigur Ros‘ drummer about the bands‘ new record deal with major label EMI. This record deal is very favorable for the band so Sigur Ros will celebrate the 10th birthday of the band with much enjoyment.
„The deal is for Europe and is for three albums,“ says Orri. The band has closed their deal with Fat Cat Records in England but is still signed with Universal in the US. „This deal makes us able to make our studio even better and we have started work on our new album there,“ continues Orri. He adds that Sigur Ros keeps all artistic control over their work.
The drummer says recording of the new album is going well. „We already have six songs ready, but the none of the songs are finished yet. As of now we are just doing the recordings by ourselves but on later stages Ken Thomas will join in on the work, like he did on our last album. We plan to have the album finished in the summer. And this time I even think the songs will have proper lyrics,“ Orri says and laughs.
The band turned 10 years old last sunday (4th of January) and will celebrate with friends and fans with a party this coming weekend.
