Gangster Squad (Ruben Fleischer) **1/2
As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to shoot a gangster movie. An intense score, deep voices, angels with dirty faces. Good guys that would in ordinary pictures turn out as bad guys. An old gunslinger who would normally have a drinking problem but because it’s inspired by a real story they have to stay good all the time. An old, white police commissioner who doesen’t turn out to be the bad guy at the end, can you imagine that? Now, isn’t that a cool story twist? Starring a bad guy so evil, he KILLS people, can you imagine that? He literally KILLS them. And he isn’t even troubled by that. Now, this seems like an epic movie to me, don’t you think?
