Das letzte Mal, dass mich ein neu entdeckter Song so begeistert hat, war bei „If I Had A Heart“ von Fever Ray, und das ist schon ein Weilchen her. Ich kenne inzwischen das Original von Yanka Dyagileva, aber mir kommt es vor, als habe Alina Simone die Essenz des Songs erst so richtig herausgearbeitet. Sie hat das Tempo gedrosselt und die schrummelige Schlaggitarre durch einen weichen Klangteppich ersetzt. So wird aus dem Song eine Elegie, und der (auch) politische Gehalt der wunderschönen Metaphern wird etwas mehr ins Philosophische umgebogen. Naja, vielleicht liegt mir in der Musik das Kontemplative tatsächlich mehr, jedenfalls gefällt mir diese Fassung viel besser. Dass Russisch eine sehr schöne Sprache für Gesang ist, wusste ich ja schon seit Regina Spektors „Après Moi“, aber hier gibt es viel mehr davon… Mitsingen ist leider nicht (bis auf den „Aaah“-Teil), nur Zuhören schadet aber auch nicht.
