Auch wenn ich seine beiden Soloalben so toll nicht fand (s. hier), werde ich wohl auch das kommende Album von Richard Ashcroft kaufen. Dazu Neuigkeiten:
Lange Zeit war es still um ihn. Seit seinem zweiten und bisher letzten Soloalbum „Human Conditions“ von 2002 hatte sich Ex-The Verve-Kopf Richard Ashcroft ein wenig zurückgezogen. Im stillen Kämmerlein werkelte der Songwriter aber heimlich, still und leise an einem neuen Album – das wiederum weder still, noch leise ausfallen soll. „Keys To The World“, so der Titel, wird am 23. Januar nächsten Jahres über Parlophone erscheinen, vorab gibt’s am 09.01. die Single „Break The Night With Colour“ . „It’s sounding shit hot“, sagt Ashcroft selbst in einem Interview mit xfm. „I’m pleased with it. It’s got a good mix to it: there’s some good raw rock ’n‘ roll on it, some moments of beauty and lushness, but there’re some tracks that are pretty raw, pretty heavy.“ Anscheinend sind die großspurig angelegten Wall Of Sound-Zeiten vorbei.
„There’s a lot of different topics and things I’m going into, and for a time I was thinking about that very English way of writing tunes back from ’65 and ’66. The Stones, The Beatles, [all the songs] have a bit of Dylan twisted-ness in the sound, but they retain an Englishness to them. That’s what I wanna be, a great English songwriter. I don’t want to be anything else, I realise that now. That’s my job, that’s my duty, to write tunes, not to f**k around.“ Wir sind sehr gespannt.
