Das wollte ich keinem Hendrix-Freund vorenthalten:
Jimi Hendrix may have taped Welsh anthem
LONDON, Jan. 2 (UPI) — What could be Jimi Hendrix’s version of the Welsh national anthem has been discovered on an eight-track tape found in a chest in a London recording studio.
Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau or Land of My Fathers was the last track on a tape made by the New Flames, a long-forgotten rock group. Viv Williams, the New Flames‘ bassist, was a friend of Hendrix.
Producer Dave Chapman found the recording while going through tapes that had turned up at the studio in North London, to make sure nothing important was on them, The Guardian reported.
Hendrix — famous for his feedback-heavy rendition of „The Star Spangled Banner“ — died in London in 1970 at 27.
If he is on the newly discovered tape it would be one of his last recordings.
Martin Davies, who owns the tape, said he is trying to find Williams to determine if Hendrix indeed sat in on the session.
