Laut Pitchfork erscheint wohl demnächst eine B-Seiten Kompilation namens „Layourbattleaxedown„, auf der sich unter anderem die Coverversion des Rolling Stones Songs „Miss you“ befindet.
Welcome to the saddest disco in the world. No one expects you to dance. The Concretes are the house band, and when they can be bothered to pry themselves from the bar, they saunter under the dim lights above the stage and slowly sway themselves to tears with Chan Marshall guitar strums, a little organ, and squealing sax in the distance. You might even miss the fact it’s a cover: That come-hither riff from the Rolling Stones‘ original is in there, but slowed down by half and then drowned in despondency and late-night atmosphere. It’s an easy song to cast as such, because even as the original begged listeners to dance, the lyrics were about refusing to party and waiting by the phone. A wistful take on „Miss You“ sounds obvious on paper, but the Concretes bring on a storm of melancholy while keeping the beat, never bringing the listener down with them. Give ‚em a hand for making heartbreak so palatable. 3½ Sterne.
