Kinks founder treated for stroke
The Kinks founder member Dave Davies will require at least another month in hospital to recover from a stroke.
The 57-year-old guitarist, who is the brother of fellow Kinks star Ray Davies, had been promoting his solo material when he collapsed on 30 June.„He is paralysed on the right-hand side of his body, but he retains some feeling and he can still hold a guitar plectrum,“ said his spokesman. „These small things mean a hell of a lot. They're small but very important.“
Doctors have said with physiotherapy he should recover.
Davies had carried out two interviews with radio DJs Danny Baker and Phill Jupitus to promote his album Bug when he fell ill and was rushed to hospital.
„Dave is taking his illness with typical good humour, and with a positive demeanour,“ said spokesman Alan Robinson.
Ray Davies is still recovering from a gunshot wound to his leg that he received when chasing two muggers who had snatched his girlfriend's handbag in New Orleans in January.
Ray and Dave Davies had a volatile relationship during their days in the band, but had recently met up to discuss a possible reunion to co-incide with the 40th anniversary reunion of their first number one single You Really Got Me.
