Eines von Dylans schönsten Alben (wenn auch nicht das allerschönste). Eine kurze Platte aus einem Guss; mit schönen Kleinoden, kleinen Songperlen und viel Country-Einfluss. Dylan gibt den entspannten Crooner und „singt“ – wie man vielleicht im konservativen Wortsinne schreiben könnte – richtiggehend, so wie man das von ihm nicht unbedingt gewohnt war (auch wenn ich seinen Gesang/Stimmausdruck in den Alben vorher trotzdem immer bevorzugen werde).
„Girl From The North Country“ kommt meiner Meinung nach mit Johnny Cash viel besser zur Geltung als auf „Freewheelin'“, auch „I threw it all away“ oder „One more night“ sind Highlights.
