hab vor ein paar tagen mal wieder ein paar alte squeeze alben ausgegraben..und war doch sehr angetan. Sie hatten in deutschland ja nie erfolg..daran konnte auch ihr rockpalastauftritt nix ändern..sie waren (sind?) wohl zu british, indeed.

Aber alben wie “ cool for cats“, „argy bargy“ oder „frank“ sind sehr hörenswert..POP at its best..man höre nur einmal das streicherarrangement von „vanity fair“..vom East side storie album..achja :)

Chris Difford..einer der beiden hauptakteure soll angeblich gestern im vorprogramm von herrn costello gespielt haben. Elvis hat auch 1,2 alben von ihnen produziert.

Glenn Tilbrook hab ich mal live in london gesehen..war ne feine sache..solo nach einem EM-fussballspiel ineinem Pub. grandiose srtimmung mit textsicheren! fans

Für diejenigen , denen Squeeze nichts sagt…die musik desÜLTJE-fernseh spots..ist ein tja Cover?( kann man so eigentlich nicht sagen) von „cool for cats“.

Squeeze Jumps On Reunion Tour Bandwagon

U.K. pop/rock combo Squeeze has jumped on the reunion tour bandwagon and will play U.K. shows under that name this fall for the first time since 1999. Group member Glenn Tilbrook made the announcement on his Web site, saying the dates come in conjunction with an extensive Squeeze re-release campaign of which he and member Chris Difford „are really proud.“

Difford told Billboard.com last month Squeeze received offers to reunite „all the time,“ adding, „But it has to be emotionally, spiritually and financially the right thing, and when all those planets come into line, then we will be there. At the time being, I can’t see it on the horizon, but I’ve been wrong before.“

At deadline, it is unknown if any other former Squeeze members are on-board for the reunion dates, or if the tour will visit additional cities in Europe or North America.

Here are Squeeze’s U.K. tour dates:

Nov. 27: Southampton (Guildhall)
Nov. 29: Glasgow (Carling Academy)

Nov. 30: Newcastle (City Hall)
Dec. 1: Wolverhampton (Civic Hall)
Dec. 3: Bristol (Colston Hall)
Dec. 4: London (Hammersmith Apollo)
Dec. 7: Manchester (Apollo)
Dec. 8: Liverpool (Philharmonic)

das sind die mit „up the junction“, oder? den song spielen the view sehr häufig live. eigentlich können die nur gut sein.

bringt mich doch tatsächlich dazu wieder einmal die Squeeze auszugraben
fand den song „tempted“ immer so grandios, very soulful
tolle band !

ok. habe mir jetzt mal etwas mehr angehört als „up the junction“, zum beispiel „black coffee in bed“ und „footprints“. wirklich gut. irgendwelche vorlieben bezüglich ihrer alben? empfehlungen? oder muss ich mir gleich alle drei oben genannten alben zulegen?

edit: ach, das dauert mir hier zu lange… aber war bestimmt ein fehler, die „normale“ „argybargy“ (die CD) zu bestellen und nicht die deluxe edition (doppel-CD), oder? :doh:

von den oben genannten „cool for cats“, sonst auf jeden fall noch ihre wohl beste „east side story“. diese sollen allerdings auch bald als deluxe versionen erscheinen.

Die „Deluxe“-Argybargy gibts aber doch noch gar nicht, oder?
Empfehlenswert: Cool for Cats, Argybargy, East Side Story. Weil Squeeze Mk1 eine gute Singles-Band waren, tuts eine der zahlreichen Kompilationen auch, wenn man sich nicht allzutief da rein stürzen will.
Von Squeeze Mk2 (also nach dem ersten Split) ist wohl das Album „Play“ das beste. Ansonsten ist die Qualität der späteren Platten doch eher gemischt.
Schade, dass sie nur in den USA und in GB touren, ich sähe sie gerne mal live.

dafür, dass eine „argybargy“-deluxe edition angekündigt ist, sind die früheren CD-editionen ganz schön teuer (über amazon marketplace 16,29 euro + porto aufwärts; die japanische gibt’s auch direkt über amazon für 33,99 bzw. 44,99 euro).
habe mich gewundert, warum meine über amazon marketplace bestellte CD noch nicht eingetroffen ist und gerade eine rückerstattungsmail im postfach gefunden: „Grund der Rueckerstattung: Rueckgabe durch Kunden“. das soll wohl heißen, die CD ist nicht mehr lieferbar? (habe sie nicht zurückgeben wollen)

jetzt müsste die deluxe edition nur noch irgendwo bestellbar sein (neben cd-wow), wo man per bankeinzug zahlen kann. (amazon.de führt sie – noch? – nicht)
ist das kompliziert.
