DAVE HOLLAND QUARTET – Dream of the Elders (ECM, 1996)
Auf Dream of the Elders lässt Dave Holland mit seinem Quartet – Steve Nelson (Vibraphon & Marimba), Eric Person (Sax) und Gene Jackson (Drums) – die Tradition von Bobby Hutchersons 60er-Bands wieder aufleben bzw. modernisiert es. Acht ausgedehnte, erzählerische Eigenkompositionen verbinden technische Brillanz mit emotionaler Tiefe. Ein fesselndes Album eines tollen Quartetts mit einem tollen Feature von Cassandra Wilson auf Equality.
Mir fällt auf, dass ich nichts anderes von Eric Person kenne und von Gene Jackson nur das Kevin Eubanks Album aus dem Vorjahr.
