Happy Daze ist für mich das faszinierendste Dokument von Elton Deans kurzlebiger Band Ninesense. Der packende Wechsel zwischen impulsivem Big-Band-Sound und fesselndem individuellem Spiel – besonders von Dean und Tippett – reißt mich jedes Mal aufs Neue mit. Dieses Album zeigt eindrucksvoll, wie Big Band Jazz strahlen kann: voller Energie, Emotion und Spielfreude.
