Hab mal mit dem aktuellen begonnen, bei Bandcamp gibt’s da ja was zu hören, und was mir sofort auffiel: die Mixes sind ziemlich hemdsärmelig. Klingt, als seien die einzelnen Tracks, also die Tonspuren, nicht organisch miteinander verbunden. Ja, man kann viel im DIY hinbekommen, aber was Friseure können können nur Friseure. Äh Mixer. Matt Lange zum Beispiel (Highway to Hell) oder Butch Vig.
In diesem Sinne ist bei Phantom Island mehr los, aber das Ergebnis bleibt für mich zumindest zu trocken, bei Flight b741 aber ist es mir zu krass, klingt teils flach und überkomprimiert mit einer dichten Mitte und wenig Luft.

No secret that I am a big fan of King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. They first caught my ear in 2017 with their Turkish Psych-Rock flavored album, Flying Microtonal Banana, and I have been a fan ever since. If you asked me what the definitive KGLW album was, I couldn’t tell you. They have gone deep on such a wide array of genres and styles over their 26 albums, that choosing just one album that represents what they do best would be a crime.On their new release, Flight b741, the Melbourne Australia based band sounds like they could be sharing a bill with bands like Badfinger and Argent. It’s another great offering that refuses to pin King Gizz to any specific genre, and they do it with respect to the past while charging forward with their own sonic stamp and unique take on classic rock.
