One of the writers, Jeff Barry, has commented on these lines:
Actually, there was a big discussion about whether it should be “Met him on a Monday and my heart stood still” or “Met him on a Sunday and my heart stood still.” Sunday seems like the day to meet someone and fall in love. But Monday sounds better;(…) So “Met him on a Monday” is where it is and everyone thinks it’s Sunday, but it’s Monday. It’s the only good thing that’s ever happened on a Monday.
