Hab ja noch George Benson vergessen … nebst mehreren Runden „Beyond the Blue Horizon“ gab es auch zweimal „Body Talk“, das ich sehr toll finde, und dann einmal „Bad Benson“, das mir da und dort etwas zu üppig geraten ist in den Arrangements. Das fürs erstere Pee Wee Ellis zeichnete, war mir beim Hören noch nicht mal klar, aber das klingt für meine Ohren wirklich authentisch funky und die Bläser-Sätze sitzen perfekt (bei Ellis ja keine Überraschung). Earl Klugh an der zweiten Gitarre ist auch super. „Horizon“ hat ein paar superbe Momente, auch mit dem Cello-Chor („The Changing World“ ist das glaub ich?), Don Sebesky ist halt schon oft etwas over the top für meinen Geschmack. Und – auf beiden Alben: die Percussion wir mir manchmal auch etwas zuviel.
