Sprung ins Spätwerk von Carmen McRae mit „Fine and Mellow“ (Concord, 1988) – ein Gig aus Long Beach, CA vom Herbst 1987 mit der Combo von Red Holloway (as/ts), zu der auch Jack McDuff (org), Phil Upchurch (g), John Clayton (b) und Paul Humphrey (d) gehören. Nach dem instrumentalen „What Is This Thing Called Love“ stösst McRae dazu und es gibt u.a. ein über neun Minuten langes „Fine and Mellow“. Passt sehr gut, der Sound der Orgelcombo und die reife Stimme von McRae.
