btw. weiß jemand, was das „brava“ im titel zu bedeuten hat? falsch flektiertes „bravo“ oder die kapverdische insel?
Hab grad in Brian Priestlys Liners zur zweiten Storyville-Box geschaut, da steht nur ein wenig was zu Togo – nehme an ein Fehler (aber ist Togo denn männlich? Wiki hilft nicht wirklich weiter, ausser dass es eben nicht Spanisch ist, war ja eh eine frz. Kolonie: „The name Togo is translated from the Ewe language as „behind the river“. During the period from the 11th century to the 16th century, tribes entered the region: the Ewé from the west, and the Mina and Gun from the east. Most of them settled in coastal areas.“)

Das ist eine dieser Sessions von der Zeit, als Duke Jordan (mit Cecil Payne, John Simmons und Art Taylor im Juni 1956) bzw. Freddie Redd (mit Tommy Potter und Joe Harris im Juli) in Europa waren, gibt ja von Redd und Potter weitere Aufnahmen aus Schweden … hier ist Rolf Ericson der nominelle Leader, auf der Session mit Redd ist auch noch Lars Gullin dabei (also stets Quintett mit Barisax) und auf beiden Sessions taucht Ernestine Anderson auf, auf einem der vier Stücke mit Jordan und fünf mit Redd (sechs Stücke mit Gesang, elf ohne, dazu eine längere Ansage zum Live-Mitschnitt mit Redd).
