„It’s a Blue World“ war im August 1955 der Einstieg von Mel Tormé bei Bethlehem – wo er in der zweiten Hälfte der Fünfziger einen neuen Kurs einschlagen und ein vielleicht seine besten Aufnahmen machen konnte. In Sachen Balladen-Alben von Sängern ganz weit oben – für meine Ohren irgendwo zwischen Frank Sinatras „In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning“, „A Main Ain’t Supposed to Cry“ von Joe Williams und „Falling in Love Is Wonderful“ von Jimmy Scott.
