Houston Person wurde im Komponistinnen-Thread als Interpret von Nina Simones Young, Gifted & Black erwähnt. Also habe ich mal dieses Album von ihm aufgelegt:
In Reviews von Soul Jazz-Alben wird immer mal wieder fast entschuldigend erwähnt, das sei zwar kein „richtiger“ Jazz (zu wenige Soli, zu schematisch …) aber trotzdem ganz gut. Vielleicht könnte man es mal aus der entgegengesetzten Perspektive betrachten: Das ist Jazz Soul, also Soul oder R&B mit Jazzanteilen. Dann ist das nicht „trotzdem“ ganz gut, sondern richtig gut!
