Joanne Brackeen – Invitation | Halt nur die Black Lion-CD, die reichlich dumpf klingt, aber gut, das hätte ich durchaus ahnen können … lief neulich schon mal, los geht es mit „Six Ate“, das schon auf dem Vorgängeralbum, ihrem Debutalbum mit Cecil McBee und Billy Hart zu hören war, hier mit Clint Houston und Hart erneut … zwei weitere Originals sind drauf, „Echoes“ und „C-Sri“, auch letzteres schon auf dem Debut zu hören. Dazu kommen „Iris“ von Wayne Shorter, „Canyon Lady“ von Mark Levine und eine klasse Version vom Titelstück, „Invitation“ (so hiess das Album auch schon, als es 1978 bei Freedom auf Vinyl erschien).
