McGriff-Sammeln finde ich mässig attraktiv, weil seine Alben selten wirklich der Hammer sind … das Basie-Album („The Big Band“, Solid State, 1966 – als CD bei Capitol/Blue Note/EMI wieder aufgelegt) finde ich echt stark, aber das ist halt so ein Ego-Ding mit Orgel und viel Blech in ganz guten Arrangements von Manny Albam. Da sind da natürlich die Giants of the Organ mit Groove Holmes, aber die hast du ja eh schon (hörte ich bei dir zum ersten Mal). Ich hab noch ein Blue Note-Album („Electric Funk“) und paar LRC-Compilations und das erste Milestone-Album, aber Essentielles vermag ich da irgendwie bisher nicht zu entdecken.
