Kenny Barron – Other Places | Das ist das Barron-Album aus den Neunzigern (und überhaupt), das ich mir auf Basis meines ersten Penguin Guide ausgewählt hatte. Zum Trio mit Rufus Reid und Victor Lewis stossen hier noch Ralph Moore (häufiger am Sopran- denn am Tenorsax), Bobby Hutcherson und Mino Cinelu. Es gibt sechs Originals im Quintett (ohne Cinelu) und Sextett, zwei Standards – „For Heaven’s Sake“ im Duo mit Hutcherson, „I Should Care“ im Duo mit Reid – und zum Ausklang ein Stück von Lewis, „Hey, It’s Me You’re Talkin‘ To“.
