Mingus Big Band – Que Viva Mingus! | Bei mir vorhin noch dieses Party-Album der Mingus Big Band – sehr, sehr gut! John Stubblefield ist als Solist mehrmals zu hören, Randy Brecker, Ryan Kisor (der auch bei der Carnegie Hall Jazz Band ein paar Solos kriegt), Steve Turre, Alex Sipiagin, Steve Slagle, Chris Potter, Seamus Blake oder Mark Shim kriegen auch ihre Momente im Rampenlicht. Und David Kikoski ist am Klavier sehr gut (ich kenne ihn nur aus dieser Band, finde ihn da immer super), John Benitez/Adam Cruz sind fast immer die Rhythmusgruppe, auf drei Tracks übernehmen Andy McKee/Gene Jackson (und das sind auch die drei Tracks, bei denen viele Bläser anders besetzt sind, was die vielen Saxophon-Solisten erklärt).
