Ich habe mir wie auch bei den 70ern mal die Mühe gemacht, aus der Gesamtliste die Black Music-Alben rauszufiltern. Da der Begriff Black Music zwangsläufig unscharf ist (stilistisch, sozio-kulturell, menschlich …), ist die Liste ebenso unscharf. Man verzeihe mir Irrtümer und Auslassungen.
In der Liste überraschend viele Jazz-Alben weit oben, Coltrane und Miles sogar in den Top 20. Wie einige von uns an anderer Stelle feststellten, steckte das Soul-Album als Format in den 60ern aber noch in den Kinderschuhen. Ein paar Pioniertaten sind jedoch schon zu verzeichnen. Ein einsames Salsa-Album in der Mutterliste (272. Willie Colon – Cosa Nuestra), mehrere Brasilianer, aber nur einer davon in der Black Music-Liste (125. Jorge Ben – Samba Esquema Novo). Bei Salsa und und Brasilien erweist sich die Kategorie Black Music jedoch auch als besonders schwierig und eigentlich kaum anwendbar. Da liegt das Hybride ja in der Natur der Sache.
In der Mutterliste insgesamt sehr wenig, was nicht aus GB oder den USA stammt. Jenseits der Top 20 und der üblichen Verdächtigen aber ein sehr breit gefächertes Spektrum von Rock über Jazz, Blues, Folk, Soul, Traditional Pop, Experimentellem usw. usf. bis zu Klassik. Viele Musiker waren mir bis dato völlig unbekannt und ich musste sie erst recherchieren. Da gibt es offenbar noch viel zu entdecken.
